Ten Queer Accessory Brands You Should Know About

Earlier this year we launched Famm, a website where you can easily browse, discover, and shop for products by LGBTQ+ owned brands. Since then, we’ve had so much fun continuing to build Famm, and throughout this process discovering some truly epic accessory brands. In this post we want to share ten queer-owned accessory brands that we think you’re going to love. These brands not only reimagine LGBTQ+ fashion but also champion diversity, inclusivity, and the power of activism. So if you’re on the hunt for a unique necklace, keychain, pin, or other super-queer accessory, then you’re in the right place.

Bowtie Behavior

Bye-bye, boring bowties, and say hello to Bowtie Behavior!

Bowtie Behavior revitalizes the iconic bowtie, infusing it with a contemporary street-fashion twist. Merging urban and cultural influences with cutting-edge design, their diverse lineup caters to both classic and deconstructed styles, offering a fresh perspective for fashion enthusiasts.

Robbie Williams, the creative force behind Bowtie Behavior, started the brand after unsuccessfully searching for a bow tie that fit her aesthetic for a friend’s bridal shower. Even though Robbie was armed with zero sewing experience, she was undeterred and made one herself. Everyone at the bridal shower loved her bowtie which sparked the idea of creating her own brand. Bowtie Behavior is a testament to inclusivity and encourages self-expression, all while highlighting Robbie's tenacity and the brand's one-of-a-kind bowtie creations.

Mars Wright

I’m a huge fan of Mars’ approach to sharing raw messages of hope, love, and encouragement through his art.

Mars Wright has captivated us as a passionate trans artist and activist, infusing honesty and intention into every creation. From a young age, Mars found solace in art and creativity, using drawing for self-expression and self-discovery. His passion for art led him to pursue a career in graphic design, which eventually paved the way for his brand today.

His art, featuring gender-affirming phrases and messages of self-love, is a reminder to our community that we’re not alone. With an understanding of clothing's profound role in fostering gender euphoria, Mars believes in fashion as a conduit for authentic self-expression. His diverse accessory line reflects this ethos, spanning hats, totes, patches, fanny packs, and more.

The Peach Fuzz

Elizabeth is nothing short of brutally honest and unapologetic, and it’s reflected in her brand and products. And we LOVE this!

The Peach Fuzz isn't just a brand—it's a vibrant statement, masterfully weaving activism, bold hues, candid truths, and catchphrases that swing between hilariously on-point to deeply moving. Her collection, packed with quirky LGBTQ+ jewelry, pride stickers, gay daddy hats, hair clips, pins, and totes offers more than just fashion. They're conversation pieces, sparking dialogue and igniting intent.

Elizabeth, the visionary behind the brand, channeled her drive for expression among the current political backdrop into art activism. But Elizabeth's impact doesn't stop at her brand. Beyond establishing The Peach Fuzz, she commits herself to crafting free resources for budding entrepreneurs, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.

Sabor a Libertad

I’m Puerto Rican and couldn't help feeling excited about everything Tam and their team are doing with Sabor a Libertad.

Sabor a Libertad shines a spotlight on the artistry of queer creators from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, magnifying their work across diverse mediums. Fueled by purpose, these artists aim to champion causes through their art, manifested in accessories like keychains, pins, patches, totes, and clothing.

Tam, the driving force behind the brand, found inspiration in their mother's passion for art and activism back in Puerto Rico. Sabor a Libertad emerges as a brand, celebration, and healing journey, reflecting Tam’s multifaceted identity as a queer, Afro, non-binary, and neurodivergent individual thriving in the tropicolonia.

Brownie Points

The important messages and 70’s vibe in Brownie Points’ products are bound to spark intentional conversation.

Brownie Points emerges from the vibrant vision of Texas-born, LA-settled artist and comedian, Rinny Perkins. Her accessories, from catchy pins and hats to statement jewelry, embody an audacious authenticity firmly rooted in activism. What kicked off with Rinny's passion for 70’s-centric collages and indie zines in 2017 has blossomed into a store that celebrates authenticity and encourages open conversations about dating, sexuality, and mental health.

Immersed in the 70’s Blaxploitation vibes she cherished during her upbringing, Rinny's pieces are more than just designs. They are her comedic commentary and live performances, spotlighting the intricate interplay of Black and queer femininity within a feminist framework.

Common Dear

Founded by Jessi and Kelli, Common Dear is a vibrant embodiment of fun and empowerment. Nestled in the heart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, their charming storefront is a haven for those seeking accessories that radiate cheer and vibrancy, all while carrying a strong undercurrent of feminism and self-empowerment.

At Common Dear, you'll discover an eclectic mix of accessories carefully curated from women-owned, 2SLGBTQIA+-owned, and BIPOC-owned brands. From adorable handbags and trendy pins to stylish hairclips, keychains, patches, cozy socks, and chic sunglasses, their diverse assortment caters to every style and occasion. As a proudly queer, women-owned business, Common Dear places intentionality at the forefront of its mission. They go beyond fashion, using their retail space to uplift and support brands that share their commitment to empowerment and creating a more equitable world for all.

VV Patchouli

I’m such a fan of VV Patchouli’s designs. Their collections offer a distinct perspective, incorporating themes of nature, chic styles, edgy vibes, and a touch of grit.

VV Patchouli is a multi-disciplinary, luxury brand focused on building a sophisticated, environmentally-conscious company. Launched in 2012, V.V. Patchouli's brand is more than just an ode to luxurious handbags; it's a tapestry woven from the threads of creation, universality, and boundless imagination. They have a beautiful collection of bags and jewelry that embody an intentional narrative. VV also aims to create a world where symmetry arises from chaos into timeless designs.

Ash & Chess

As someone with a design background, I have a massive admiration and appreciation for this brand’s artwork.

Ash + Chess, based out of Kingston, New York, is the brainchild of the queer and trans power couple Ashley Molesso (she/her) and Chess Needham (he/him). Through their eclectic mix of stationery and gifts, they weave bold, retro hues that catch the eye and champion the queer community.

Their story started on a dating app and quickly grew from shared artistic pursuits to a collaborative dream. With Ash + Chess, they envisioned a brand that would stand as a beacon for the LGBTQ+ community, echoing inclusivity and positivity in every piece, from vibrant queer stickers and posters to heartfelt gender-affirming greeting cards.

DL Eyewear

Okay - so we were already big Dan Levy fans, given our obsession with Schitt’s Creek. Then we find out he has an eyewear brand that is chic and gives back to small businesses owned by marginalized folks.

DL Eyewear is an eyewear label founded by the multifaceted comedian, actor, writer, and producer Dan Levy. Wearing glasses since the age of eight has always been a medium of personal expression for him. The brand epitomizes timeless elegance, offering pieces seamlessly blending into one's optical ensemble.

Moreover, DL Eyewear is firmly rooted in its mission to uplift small enterprises. They support small businesses owned by women, individuals from diverse racial backgrounds, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and those rooted in historically underserved neighborhoods. Through this ethos, the brand's prosperity directly contributes to the growth and success of these vibrant communities.

Show & Tell

We have to show our love for our fellow Gay Area queer entrepreneurs!

Show & Tell is a brand radiating with bold and inclusive designs, championing an unapologetic sense of style intertwined with a thirst for joyful living. Their collection is a curated blend of their artisan pieces and a selection of ethically crafted goods from brands that resonate with their values. The brand's backbone, Alyah Baker, stands firm on principles of responsible commerce, genuine self-expression, and the fervent celebration of underserved communities, including people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women.
queer joy tote bags, queer joy pins, proud rainbow stickers,

Their accessories span from queer joy tote bags and tie dye bucket hats to proud rainbow stickers, LGBTQ+ candles and queer joy pins, creating a vibrant tapestry of products. Show & Tell also has a boutique shop based out of downtown Oakland, California.

Each of these queer-owned accessory brands stand as a beacon of authenticity, self-expression, and social change. Through their unique products, they amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities, bridging the gap between style and activism. As we celebrate these brands, we also honor the queer visionaries behind them, whose stories and creations remind us that fashion can be a powerful tool for self-affirmation and societal progress. Whether it's a bowtie, a pin, a handbag, or a piece of jewelry, these accessories are more than adornments; they are symbols of resilience, diversity, and the enduring pursuit of a more inclusive world.
