MEET THE PANELISTS

Blair Imani will moderate a panel discussion on the concept of ‘professionalism’ and how it translates for LGBTQ+ folks in different spaces.


  • Blair Imani is the creator of the viral web series, Smarter In Seconds and LA Times bestselling author of Read This to Get Smarter. The New York Times praises Blair Imani’s unique ability to create “progressive lessons with vibrant visuals and a perky, quirky delivery.” Her scholarship spans intersectionality, gender studies, race and racism, sociology, and United States history. She is also a historian, having written Making Our Way Home (2020) and Modern HERstory (2018).

    She has had the opportunity to present at renowned universities and companies including Oxford, Harvard, Yale, Meta, Sephora, Adobe, and Gates Ventures. Blair Imani serves on the Board of Directors of the Tegan and Sara Foundation. She has collaborated with and interviewed influential people across a variety of fields including Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, and Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw.

  • Madison Butler (she/her) is a native New Englander who has brought her east coast energy to Texas. She is a Black, queer woman, and she is also a survivor. She is the owner/founder of Blue Haired Unicorn, a consulting agency. Her work is focused around designing spaces and creating scalable strategies to achieve psychological safety. She is an outspoken advocate for mental health, removing the stigma around trauma and advocates for being “human at work’. She is passionate about facilitating hard conversations through storytelling, data and tough empathy. 

    Madison has been featured in major news outlets such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Business Insider and Der Spiegel. She has been recognized by Linkedin as a top Black voice to follow. She was also recognized as Austin’s rising star by DivInc in 2021. She is looked upon as an expert in her field and is passionate about using her platform to have the hard conversations.

    Madison is committed to deconstructing the status quo and rebuilding corporate America, one organization at a time. Her mission is to ensure that no one ever feels like spaces were not made for them because we all deserve to live out loud. She is a start-up enthusiast and is passionate about building inclusive teams from the ground up with early stage companies. Madison is committed to helping change the narrative around what it looks like to be “human at work”, and hopes to reshape the way we look at ourselves at work and in life.


  • When asked what he does for a living, Max Siegel, content creator @maxsiegel_ and Director of Trans&, defines himself as a “Career Queer”. After a career in partnerships aand marketing, Max began sharing his own story of gender transition across social media aiming to cut through the misinformation and misunderstandings around Trans and LGBTQ+ people. Today he speaks and consults for organisations all over the world to help them better understand, support and celebrate LGBTQ+ team members and customers. 

    Specialising in the “why before the what” when it comes to LGBTQ+ inclusion, Max uses an approach of honesty, vulnerability and lived experience to allow his audiences to understand how it feels to be an LGBTQ+ person in the world today. As well as discussing the importance of recognising and supporting the growing number of LGBTQ+ people in the workforce today, Max also covers the real business value of inclusion both internally and externally.

    Always sticking to his key values of positive representation and authenticity, Max shares his own life and experiences online to show that Trans joy is both real and possible. Taking the same approach with clients, Max always begins his work with a reminder that is always okay to get things wrong if you’re happy to learn and be corrected. His sessions aim to help everyone feel comfortable, curious and empowered to create a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ people. 

    As well as LGBTQ+ topics, Max also speaks and consults on neurodiversity, content creation, sobriety and online abuse. When he’s not working, you can usually find him on a beach with his wife Lori and whippet Twiglet (star of #TwigletFriday on LinkedIn).


  • As the sole founder & CEO of Gay Water, Spencer Hoddeson is responsible for managing the company's overall operations including product development, production, distribution, marketing, sales, PR, and more. Founded in January 2022, Gay Water is a mission-driven business with a goal to create representation for the LGBTQ+ on shelves.

    Prior to starting Gay Water, Spencer led Brand Marketing & Corporate Social for Yahoo. Spencer was responsible for the planning and execution of Yahoo brand marketing initiatives, which includes consumer and strategic marketing, digital and social strategy, and brand partnerships.

    Based in New York, Hoddeson has spearheaded the launch of numerous successful brand campaigns and partnerships at Yahoo, as well owning multiple rebrands for Yahoo and its predecessors Verizon Media & Oath. In September 2019, Hoddeson led the charge on the global rebrand of Yahoo, including a global rollout of the new brand identity, encapsulating updates to 346 products in 49 markets.

    Hoddeson has held marketing roles at Oath/Verizon Media/Yahoo, USA Network, SYFY Network, NBCUniversal, Lightning 100, Warner Music and more.

    Outside of a traditional job, Spencer is an LGBTQ+/lifestyle focused social media influencer and content creator. He reaches an audience of over 280K daily spanning across Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok.

    He loves the NYTimes Spelling Bee and hates paper straws.
