Salt
In 2017, nestled within a Brooklyn apartment, Salt was created by the collaborative minds of filmmaker, jewelry, and textile artist Jessie Levandov and high-end streetwear designer Auston Bjorkman. Inspired by the multifaceted abilities of its namesake mineral to cleanse, heal, and transform, Salt crafts garments that strike a harmonious balance between rugged workwear, simplicity, and the intimate tenderness of hand craftsmanship. Each garment, from bomber jackets to tank jumpsuits, is a testament to their dedication to thoughtful production, sculptural silhouettes, and a passion for versatile, all-gender workwear.
Salt not only stands out for its unique design philosophy but also for its fierce commitment to ethical production. Sourcing and producing entirely within New York City, Salt is an emblem of sustainable fashion. It is staunchly dedicated to reducing waste, partnering with small woman-owned manufacturing businesses, and uplifting the diverse queer community that the founders belong to. More than just a fashion label, Salt challenges the extractive status quo of the industry, championing a movement against oppressive societal standards of beauty and expression.
