Thúy H. Nguyen is the visionary behind THÚY Custom Clothier, based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Thúy is a refugee of the Vietnam War and found herself in Puerto Rico before settling in San José, California, with her parents and four brothers. Inspired by her mother, who established a thriving enterprise crafting exquisite áo dài for local pageant models and community members, Nguyen has pursued a similar path.
Thúy's process includes personal and detailed consultations with her clients. Consultations usually occur in person and last a few hours to avoid rushing the process. There is also flexibility for remote consultations. There is a strong focus on empowering queer individuals and purposefully staying away from the fast-fashion and mass-production approach.
