Tombolo Books
Tombolo Books, nestled in St. Petersburg's Grand Central District since December 2019, stands as a beacon of literary passion and cultural intersection. Originating as a pop-up in the Tampa Bay area, this independent bookstore is the brainchild of Alsace Walentine, formerly of Malaprop's Bookstore in Asheville, NC, and her partner and co-owner, Candice Anderson. With a commitment to championing emerging, marginalized voices, translations, and works from smaller independent presses, Tombolo Books enriches the city's literary tapestry by curating a mix of classics, outstanding popular titles, and lesser-known gems.
The store fosters community through a vibrant author events program, creating meaningful connections with local entities while underscoring the bookstore's dedication to free expression, social diversity, and exchanging ideas.
