Tourmaline House is a Brooklyn-based interior design studio that transforms homes through color, shape, and materials, with a focus on creating spaces full of personality. Founded by Nolen Borne in 2022, the studio’s mission is to curate interiors that are both functional and inspiring. Nolen works with clients to craft spaces that reflect their unique style while optimizing flow, mood lighting, and layout for a more efficient, joyful living experience.
Nolen, originally from rural Wisconsin, moved to New York City in 2015 and began his career in design at Interior Marketing Group, working on projects in some of New York’s most iconic buildings. He launched Tourmaline House after gaining valuable experience as a Senior Project Manager, and now brings his expertise and personal touch to every project. He resides in the Bushwick-Ridgewood area of Brooklyn.
VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON SERVICES

Description: Curation of furniture, artwork, home decor, soft goods, dressing, and finishes. Room layouts and mood board options are provided. All project management is handled in-house including contractor coordination, installation oversight, and final decorative styling.

Description: A personalized home shopping service. Includes four options for each requested item, and a mood board comprising Nolen’s personal recommendations. Can be paired with the Color Consultation package.
Access: Virtual or in-person
Price: $75 per item (up to 10 items).
Add styling for $800 (in-person only). -
Description: Working together, Nolen will build a color palette for your home that reflects you and emanates your ideal atmosphere with paint, wallpaper, draperies, fabrics, and finishes presented together in a mood board. Up to three color palette options are provided per room.
